Results of Disunity
We have survived a virus that required isolation only to now face another dangerous and growing threat—the idea that the good of one is more important than the well-being of the whole. We have a problem when we stop seeing each other as people—with similar hopes and dreams—and instead only see each other as strangers.
Using the F-Word During a Pandemic
Sometimes the solutions needed for survival are found by shutting down fear, understanding the pain that forces us to grow, and realizing that progress is not brought about by blame. In the end, it does not matter why things happened, what matters is that we respond with fortitude and never forget that we are better together.
Human Leadership
Human leadership is about putting people first. Making the needs of individuals more important than the organization knowing that once people feel secure, they will put the needs of the organization first. In one word, human leadership is loyalty. Loyalty is not one-sided. Loyalty requires participation. Whether in organizations or in government positions, we cannot expect understanding if we are unwilling to understand. We cannot emphasize the needs of some when we ignore the needs of others.
