A Pirate's Life For Me
“Contrary to conventional wisdom, pirate life was orderly and honest.” ~ Peter Leeson
The Challenge
Here’s the challenge, spend at least 15 minutes everyday understanding another person’s perspective—one different from your own—and use this understanding to adjust your view of the world. Let’s challenge ourselves to reach for understanding before passing down judgment.
The One About Higher Education
It is a fact that an educated society is better than an uneducated society. As humans, we have to work to overcome our faults. We have to look past the numbers and see the people. We have to scale the obstacles and see the opportunities. We have to avoid roadblocks and create paths toward progress. We have to dispel negativity and gently nudge people forward.
Human Leadership
Human leadership is about putting people first. Making the needs of individuals more important than the organization knowing that once people feel secure, they will put the needs of the organization first. In one word, human leadership is loyalty. Loyalty is not one-sided. Loyalty requires participation. Whether in organizations or in government positions, we cannot expect understanding if we are unwilling to understand. We cannot emphasize the needs of some when we ignore the needs of others.
No Easy Button
Student success should be the result of individual ability to learn, which can only happen if they know how to navigate the complexity of college admissions and make it to the classroom. It is not a level playing field if not everyone can get there.
